BIO
Heidi Field-Alvarez is a mixed media artist. She is currently a member of ArtSpace Gallery in Richmond, Virginia, Studio Art Quilts Association and the Surface Design Association. She supports her independent art career by working as a private art teacher in Henrico, Virginia. She has been juried several quilt shows in past years; the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival, Norfolk, VA and Quilts=Arts=Quilts, NY and Fiber Force traveled the country from 2009/ 2010. Heidi works on portrait commissions and has also participated in various gallery shows including ArtSpace, Main Art Gallery and White Canvas Gallery in Richmond, VA and the Textile Art Center in NYC. She has had work printed in Lark Books: 500 Art Quilts, Richmond Home magazine and the Surface Design Journal. Her next project will be a mural sized embroidered public art piece in 2012 at Gallery X, Richmond VA, inclusion in Craft Forms 2011 and Fiber Philadelphia's Outside/inside the Box 2012.
Currently she is experimenting with taking fiber into video and other combinations of fiber and film.
